An album between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole has been rumored since at least the beginning of the 2010s, when both rappers were still coming up through the blog ranks. Now, with both emcees being the answer to the “who is your favorite rapper?” question, it’s hard to imagine they’ll be making a project together anytime soon — busy schedules and all.
Over the weekend, TDE president and part-time rapper Punch was having fun and interacting with fans a bunch on Twitter when one asked about the Cole x Kendrick album. As to when it will come out? “Probably never,” he said, soon following it up saying he was just messing around and that the album is “coming for sure maybe.”
I was just playing about that dot and cole joint. It’s coming for sure maybe. I don’t know it might happen. Probably. Actually hit them 😂😂😂

Hahahaha. I’m sorry! It might happen though. I’m 50% sure that it’s a possibility. Maybe. https://t.co/QSf5GZ4Au2

Y’all serious about that project I see. Lol. Honestly I’m not sure what’s going on if anything at all. If it happens id love to hear it.

So not much of an answer. And will we ever get one from the pair (who recently performed on stage together)? Lord knows. It’ll probably remain among the ranks of some of the most anticipated collab albums that we never got for a long time, if it ever does see the light of day.
What ever happened to no half-stepping?
Anyways, while the mystery remains, Jay Rock is for sure dropping heat soon. Just a few minutes ago, Top Dawg posted this clip of Rock and MixedByAli putting the final touches on a banger.
