Daniel Caesar Drops Debut Album, ‘Freudian’

blame it on Patrick Glynn August 24, 2017

We’ve followed Daniel Caesar at the DopeHouse for a while, first dropping by with his Birds Of Paradise EP in early 2014. He has since blossomed into one of the budding soul and R&B artists of the new generation ahead of his debut album, Freudian, which is out now.

Caesar’s first project since 2015’s Pilgrim’s Paradise, the Canadian’s debut album kicks off with one of his most notable songs — “Get You” featuring Kali Uchis. The remaining nine songs see features from Syd, H.E.R. and Charlotte Day Wilson as well as two of his more recent singles, “We Find Love” and “Blessed.” And just based on those songs, if you’ve stumbled across them being promoted heavily on your favorite streaming service, they’re a clear indication of a strong debut — and introduction for many — from someone whose voice will probably stick around for a while.
