Method Man Sings Prodigy’s Praises On the ‘Chris Gethard Show’

Method Man recently stopped by as a guest on the Chris Gethard Show, and during a very poignant moment, the Wu-Tang emcee reflected on the past two years, with Hip-Hop culture “losing a lot of cats,” including the legendary Prodigy of Mobb Deep.

“Most recent in my head was Prodigy from Mobb Deep. You just never know. When your number’s called, you just want to make sure that you did all the right things while you’re still here, because that’ll live on longer than you,” said Meth, before Gethard (who I’ll always remember as Trevor from The Office) referenced “Shook Ones,” saying “That song will be played until the end of time.”

Method Man also made sure to let the fans know where he ranked Prodigy in his list of the greatests. “In his heyday, he was Top Five in New York,” continuing “If I see something I like and I’m rocking with that person, I’m a fan of that person. I got Top Five emcees, I just don’t name them. I applaud excellence.”
