Swarvy Remixes Braxton Cook’s “Somewhere In Between”

blame it on Patrick Glynn September 5, 2017

Braxton Cook released one of the best neo-soul album of the year with Somewhere In Between, a wonderful, adorning blend of soul, jazz and blues. With the project settled in over the summer, Cook is now switching some of the songs up with a string of upcoming remixes.

The first one — a flip of the title track — comes from the talents of Swarvy, the producer half of lojii and Swarvy’s DUE RENT album from this year. (Wouldn’t you believe it, that is one of the better rap album released in 2017, too.)

As opposed to Cook just handing over the stems and let Swarvy run wild with it, Cook was heavily involved in the new version. He laid down a fresh set of vocals also recorded new saxophone parts that appear all throughout the remix. The end result is, with no pun intended, somewhere in between a funky disco joint from the 70s and the neo-soul stylings of the late 90s.

Listen to the remix below, and check it out on iTunes, too.
