Open Mike Eagle – “Legendary Iron Hood” (prod. Exile)

blame it on Patrick Glynn September 11, 2017

With his Brick Body Kids Still Daydream album out this week, Open Mike Eagle drops off one more single, “Legendary Iron Hood,” before the project’s release.

The upcoming album “chronicles the life cycle of the Robert Taylor Homes, a housing project on the South side of Chicago that was demolished completely ten years ago.” “Legendary Iron Hood” is the opening track, so the character on the song comes from an innocent and juvenile stand point while documenting the external and internal struggles he faced when growing up in Chicago. Despite the situation, he remained hopeful—”ain’t nothing gonna stop me now,” he hums on the chorus.

“Legendary Iron Hood” is produced by Exile, who also worked with Mike on “Dark Comedy Late Show.” Listen to the song below, and pre-order Brick Body Kids Still Daydream on Bandcamp.
