Twenty one years ago today, Tupac Shakur succumbed to gun shot wounds that he suffered a week previous on Las Vegas strip. Murdered in cold blood, Tupac was taken from the world at the height of his powers — as a rapper, thespian and civil rights activist. Yet, the murder has still gone unsolved. This quandary is the subject of an upcoming A&E show, Who Killed Tupac?
With the show’s release impending, The Game took it on himself on the anniversary of Tupac’s passing to share a new tribute to his biggest influence. “Heaven 4 A Gangsta” is The Game’s “perception of what I thought the mental premonitions of Tupac and hip-hop would be seen as today,” he told Billboard. “Are we understood or are our testimonies categorized as a sin? Again is there a ‘Heaven 4 a Gangster?’ I wanna to know,” he continued. The song wouldn’t be complete without a “fuck Donald Trump” and some shots at the newer generation of rappers either, I guess.
