Get to Know Dreamville’s Lute With His ‘Still Slummin’ Documentary

blame it on Meka September 21, 2017

Just gonna put it out there before anybody else claims it: The DopeHouse was the first publication to cover Lute, when he first arrived with West1996 back in 2012 (and hilariously ranted about his days working at Wal-Mart on Twitter). Since then, the North Carolina has signed to J. Cole‘s Dreamville imprint in December 2015, making his first appearance with the label on the Revenge Of The Dreamers II compilation.

He’s spent the past few years developing and working on music, touring with the likes of Cole and fellow Dreamvillain Ari Lennox. Now, he’s ready to formally introduce himself with West1996 Part 2, which is slated to arrive September 29th!

Lute has also released a documentary, “Still Slummin’.” ā€œMy album is a accumulation of chapters and events leading up to Dreamville signing me,” Lute says. “Itā€™s a window into the last five years of my life: the obstacles, the challenges, the changes. Itā€™s also motivation to not let people or circumstances define who you are. My only competition is the person I was yesterday. Iā€™ve been patient and very appreciative of this platform and now its time to show what Iā€™m capable of.ā€
