Victor Oladipo Teams With 2 Chainz On Uplifting “Rope A Dope”

NBA guard and high-flyer Victor Oladipo surprised many (including The DopeHouse) when he revealed that he would make the jump to music. However, unlike Damian Lillard (and to a lesser extent, LeBron James and Kevin Durant), Victor put the raps to the left for some soulful singing, capably covering Donny Hathaway.

Victor has now teamed with 2 Chainz for his second single, “Rope A Dope.” The song is a direct response to Agent Orange’s inflammatory comments toward athletes who kneel during the national anthem — to protest the disproportionate amount of injustices and police brutality against people of color — at their games. “I wanted to address what was going on and bring awareness to it, but in a positive manner,” he says. “I want people to feel inspired and motivated to be great, and to stand up and have confidence. We need to come together as a country to deal with these problems. We aren’t going to solve anything unless we’re united.”

Oladipo’s debut EP, Songs For You, drops October 6th.
