Fresh off running through Europe with Calvin Harris in his “Hard To Love” video, Jessie Reyez is back with a single of her own.
Rising through the ranks with last year’s “Shutter Island” single and her Kiddo EP from April, the Toronto artist has seen her circle shrink with some of those close to her switching up after she started making waves.
“Phone Calls” is a response to said people and a nod to those that stuck by her side. It’s about “respecting people that were down with me from the beginning,” she told BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac in a recent interview. “People that didn’t really have anything to gain or people that just had faith to have faith. People that were riders just to be riders.”
