A former affiliate of Father‘s Awful Records, Vancouver native Tommy Genesis started to make waves of her own with her 2015 debut album World Vision. Since then, she teamed with Ye Ali and Wes Period to form the trio baby.daddi, has collaborated with MadeinTYO and has dabbled in a bit of runway work as well.
Genesis has now released a provocative video for her new single, “Tommy.” Self-directed, the half-Swedish, half-Tamil chanteuse shows off her erotic side throughout the clip. “In the past I’ve always directed and edited my own videos so I was happy when I got to do the same with Tommy,” she says. “It’s definitely more explicit than I had anticipated making but I think it depicts my sexuality pretty accurately. What I want people to know, most importantly, is nobody put me up to it. I have full control over my art and my music.”
