Dave B – “Sweetest Thing”

Since making his DopeHouse debut in March of last year, we’ve been championing Dave B every chance we’ve had.

Fresh off an appearance on Macklemore’s new album, the Seattle emcee is gearing up to release the anticipated follow-up to Tomorrow, his joint project with Sango. Next Friday, Pearl will be released to the masses.

“It’s been a long journey making this album,” Dave B explains. “So Elan (Wright), Nima (Skeemz), Darius (Rios) and I pretty much created the whole project. Then I lost my laptop with everything and we had to start again from scratch. We locked ourselves in the studio and with no time that summer to hit the beach, we created feel good music that took us there. And after all that, the end product is this luminous Pearl… it started off as a grain of sand and transcended into a beautiful, rare gem.”

Following a few loose tracks, including the 2DBZ premiere of “Blue Faces” in August, Dave B is kicking things off with a new single called “Sweetest Thing,” which was inspired by the recent marriage of his co-producer, Elan Wright.

“With Elan getting married at the end of the summer, I was inspired to write about that deep, timeless kind of love,” he says. “What does it feel like to have a soulmate? That love must be the sweetest thing that you’ve ever known.”

Produced by Elan Wright and Nima Skeemz, “Sweetest Thing” can be heard below. Check it out and pre-order Pearl on iTunes before it’s November 17th release.
