2007 was an underrated year for hip hop music, and Blu & Exile‘s In The Beginning: Before The Heavens is an example of that. The outtakes from their Before The Heavens project, the album was released in 2017 yet feels as refreshing as ever.
The duo now offer up a video for one of the project’s highlights, “Sold The Soul.” A song that spotlights the always-prevalent conflict between commercial appeal and artistic vision, Blu’s own internal struggles is dramatized as an animated short. Directed by Unjust, the visual can be seen below.
