G-Eazy Goes the Distance with ‘The Beautiful & Damned’ Album

It’s been two years since G-Eazy released an album (2015’s When It’s Dark Out), but the Bay Area native is back in business with The Beautiful & Damned.

“The concept of it is kinda split in half and it’s two CDs, but for all intents and purposes its 20 songs, it’s just a long album,” G-Eazy told Angie Martinez in a recent interview. “The concept of it is about the lifestyle, ‘The Beautiful and Damned’. Being a kid, having the dream of doing this, starting from square one, from outside looking in. From having nothing to chasing this dream. And then, all these years of following this yellow brick road trying to get to where you’re going, one day waking up and being like, ‘Did it take me where I wanted to go?’ This fantasy of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll is kinda clichéd, but it’s clichéd for a reason. It’s dark.”

At 20 tracks, the extended allbum features his girlfriend Halsey (“Him & I“), A$AP Rocky and Cardi B (“No Limit“), Kehlani, Charlie Puth (“Sober“), E-40, Jay Ant, and Drew Love of THEY (“Love is Gone“). Production provided by Boi-1da, Murda beatz, The Futuristics, CuBeatz, and others.
