It may be too early in the year to designate it, but Sylvan LaCue‘s sophomore album Apologies In Advance could land on the DopeHouse’s year-end list. Deeply personal and emotionally intense, the Mimi-bred lyricist described the project as “a concept album surrounded around the idea of an AA meeting but for emotions.”
While in New York for a press run, LaCue met up with VIBE Magazine Mikey Fresh for a conversation over some coffee (for a minute, when he lived in the Bay Area, Sylvan worked at the Blue Bottle Coffee in Oakland). While together, the rapper shared some tips on how to make the perfect caffé latte while speaking on the creation of Apologies In Advance. “It was like let’s have a group therapy session,” says the Miami native about his mindset going into the recording process.
