Chance The Rapper is teaming with another Chicago native will produce a documentary on a hometown star.
Chance, along with NBA Champion Dwyane Wade, are the executive producers for Shot in the Dark. Directed by Dustin Nakao Haider, it will focus on Orr Academy High School basketball player Tyquone Greer, who was shot at a party a week before his team’s playoff game in 2014. Miraculously, the South Side native would still make the game, play, and nail the game-winning three-point shot.
“Basketball empowered me to overcome the challenges of growing up on the south side of Chicago,” Wade said in a press release. “The odds were stacked against me, and the game changed the course of my life. It’s important to share these true stories of triumph to inspire the next generation to achieve their dreams when faced with life’s obstacles.”
“Shot in the Dark is an authentic and realistic look at high school sports in Chicago and what it means for our youth,” Chance said. “It’s not really a game for some of us.”
Shot in the Dark premieres on Fox on February 24th.
