While mostly child-friendly, action-packed extravaganzas are still the rage (Infinity War and Black Panther are among the many others that appear poised to rake in the dollars in 2018), a new genre of comic book movies are on the rise.
With the success of R-rated super- and anti-hero films like Logan and Deadpool, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures are hoping to achieve the same success with the film adaptation of arguably Spider-Man’s most popular nemesis, Venom (the film was said to be R-rated in March 2017). Starring Tom Hardy (who, yes, we all know as Bane from The Dark Knight Rises), a teaser trailer (emphasis on “tease”) has been released. Naturally, as it’s the debut of footage from the film you won’t get to see Eddie Brock in his symbiotic glory, and I’m unsure if his ties to Peter Parker/Spider-Man will remain as well.
Venom arrives October 5th. Watch the teaser below.
