With PRhyme 2 in heavy rotation, Royce 5’9″ is looking to follow it up with the release of his next solo album, Book of Ryan, on May 4th.
Capping off last week with the album’s first single, “Boblo Boat” with J. Cole, Nickel keeps things rolling with a video.
“The song came together super organically,” Royce says of the heartfelt single. “There was a boat back in the days that took people across the Detroit River to these little obscure islands. One of the islands, Boblo, housed a poor man’s amusement park where a lot of young black kids would go. It was the best shit ever. We didn’t realize it was a cheaper option looking back at it in retrospect. We were too busy having fun.”
Directed by J. Cole, the video relays the stories both Royce and Cole we’re sharing on the record, giving fans a small glimpse into the rappers’ youth.
