Veteran eccentric, MC Paul Barman, will return on May 18th with his latest project (((echo chamber))). With The Roots‘ very own Questlove handling most of the production (alongside the likes of DOOM, Mark Ronson, Prince Paul, and others), (((echo chamber))) is shaping up to be Paul’s most ambitious project to date.
Following the Open Mike Eagle-featured title track, Barman offers up his own take on the “(((commandments)))” with the second track. Produced by Memory Man (with drums by Questlove), Paul broke down the premise of the track:
“When we take apart and reassemble the rules of foreign lands, we understand them better. And when we write songs about them, they’re easier to remember. Memory Man (production, bass, scratches) and I had been talking about a Ten Commandments song for years but couldn’t find the beat. When Questlove texted some live drums, the song was delivered from the land of abstraction.”
