I haven’t done a mix in several months. There’s a reason for that.
Anyways, one of my close friends asked if, for their birthday, I could craft a mix that would double as a soundtrack to their Coachella adventures. After a couple months of asking, I found myself with a rare weekend “off,” so I figured why not.
What was originally planned as a quickstrike mix turned into a massive, daylong session because I got into a groove and didn’t stop until I got out of it. What was then supposed to be an hourlong mix turned into a three-hour bedroom session that I — a notorious self-critic/perfectionist — actually enjoyed putting together when it was done.
As it’s for a Coachella trip, the mix leans towards West Coast music old and new, from 2Pac and Snoop Dogg to SOB x RBE and Nipsey Hussle. The mix also delves into R&B, funk and soul, because at this point in my life and career you’re absolutely not going to get a “trap” soundtrack out of me. Per usual, I slid in samples, acapellas, and random skits throughout as well.
It’s essentially just a random assortment of tracks to help you with your day, drive or night. Check it out below.
