First, the bad news.
The second season of Donald Glover‘s hit television show, Atlanta, is coming to a close in the coming days. What makes it even more bittersweet is the fact that, well, we don’t know when it will return for a third season. In between Glover’s other projects and ventures, upcoming tour and his forthcoming — and final — album (which, coincidentally, will be his major label debut, the third season may take just as long to return as its second.
Now, the good news.
Following his latest gig, pulling double duty as host and musical guest for the Cinco De Mayo episode of Saturday Night Live (where he debuted a second track, “Saturday,” as well), Donald’s musical alter-ego Childish Gambino returned with his first new single since 2016, “This Is America.” Putting the falsetto to the left, Childish is back to rapping on the hard-hitting track (with ad-libs from 21 Savage, Young Thug, Quavo, BlocBoy JB and Slim Jxmmi), produced by himself and longtime collaborator, Ludwig Göransson.
The song also debuted with a new video, directed by Hiro Murai, which may go down as one of the best visuals of the year. Check out “This Is America,” below.
