DJ Jazzy Jeff Drops ‘M3’ Album

blame it on Shake May 8, 2018

After years in the making, DJ Jazzy Jeff has finally come through with the final part of his Magnificent trilogy.

“In 2002 I came out with ‘The Magnificent’. 2007 I came out with ‘The Return of the Magnificent.’ It took me 11 years to come out with this album,” Jeff says. “Wanna know why? I was waiting for the music business to catch up!”

Jeff’s first studio album to be released as an independent artist, the legendary DJ and GRAMMY award-winning producer dipped into his PLAYLIST artist network—including James Poyser (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mariah Carey), Andre Harris (Jill Scott, Usher, Justin Beiber), Stro Elliot (The Roots, The Procussions) and Jeff Bradshaw—to help set the tone. And with help from Masego and the trio of Rhymefest, Dayne Jordan and Uhmeer (together as The Trinity), the result is a cohesive mix of hip-hop, R&B, funk, jazz and house that presents a multigenerational perspective on life, love, the current state of society, and the music industry as a whole.

“For me, M3 represents freedom as an artist and in business,” Jeff says. “After all these years in the business, it’s liberating to finally be totally independent. Hopefully I inspire others to take charge of their own destiny.”

A memoir, love story, how-to manual and manifesto all in one, M3 can be heard below. Press play and be sure to add the album on your preferred streaming platform.
