On January 10th Kevin Gates was released from prison, serving nine months of a two-plus year prison sentence for an outstanding warrant from a gun case from 2013. However, despite his newfound freedom he has not been able to do much.
Because of travel restrictions, he has been unable to leave the state of Illinois to perform or even see his family in California. However, these issues aren’t stopping him from dropping tunes, and he’s surprised fans with a new EP in Chained To The City.
A quickstrike, three-track release, it’s his first new music as a free man since 2016’s Islah (By Any Means 2, which was released in 2017, dropped while he was incarcerated).
