Wale‘s “Staying Power” just got another boost.

After a three album run with Atlantic, Wale ditched the majors and decided to roll out a few songs and EPs (It’s ComplicatedSelf Promotion) on the independent tip.

Now, with his sixth studio album due out later this year, the DMV rapper has decided to re-align with a major label and will release it through a joint venture between Warner Bros. Records and Maybach Music Group.

“This is an exciting step for me. I am thrilled to be at a company that is willing to showcase my artistry, while supporting my entrepreneurial spirit,” Wale says. “I felt their passion, commitment, and enthusiasm from day one. They believed in my vision whole heartedly, and I am ready to show and prove.”

“Wale is a pillar in the hip-hop community and beyond; with his cultural relevance and lyrical prose, he continues to elevate the game,” WBR chairman and COO Tom Corson adds. “He’s truly a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”
