“Love who you want to love,” Jessie Reyez says about her new video, “Body Count.” While the term itself inexplicably draws the double-standard of ire (for women) and props (for men), the songstress depicts the idea in a different light.
Directed by Peter Huang, the clip takes inspiration from the Salem witch trials. “In short, you’re going to get judged anyway, so as long as you’re not hurting anyone and loving yourself, might as well do whatever you want,” Reyez says. “Whether that’s being celibate or being sexually free is your choice. Your body count is nobody’s business but your own.”
