After such an eventful week, many thought the week leading up to Drake’s June finale would be pretty quiet. And while that may be the case as far as quantity, the quality we got was nothing short of stellar. Not only did Westside Gunn deliver on his word that Supreme Blientele was gonna be one of the best albums of the year, Freddie Gibbs also decided to surprise fans with an album of his own. Teased by a hilarious trailer, Freddie arrived with a bang and didn’t let up until the outro. Boston’s Michael Christmas also kept us entertained with his Fool’s Gold debut, Role Model.

On top of that, we also got projects from Jedi Mind Tricks, Freeway, Teyana Taylor (with Kanye West), Bump J, and Gunplay. Bas and A$AP Rocky linked up on Sango production, Wiz Khalifa and Sway Lee did the same over Young Chop, and Rich the Kid remixed “Plug Walk” with 2 Chainz, YG and Gucci Mane. Rakim popped up during Season 2 of Luke Cage. Redman loves Hip-Hop. Snoop Dogg joined the Gorillaz in “Hollywood,” a new Chance the Rapper verse popped up, and Jaden Smith used advice from Jay-Z to craft a banger. Plus new music from Blu, Rick Ross, Future, 6LACK, Method Man, Redman, and more.
