At the stroke of midnight, Travis Scott finally opened up the gates to Astroworld. And after one listen, a question that’s sure to be asked is, “who is that on track 13?”
Well, that voice belongs to Houston’s own Don Toliver. And on top of providing one of the standout contributions to Scott’s new album, he also released a project of his own earlier today.
Enter: Donny Womack.
“It’s basically a spin off of Bobby Womack,” Toliver told The FADER. “Bobby had a tendency of making records that have a lot of soul, a lot of feeling and emotion, but he always comes on the track hot. That’s what I do most of the time, on this whole mixtape you’ll hear me coming in hot, with a lot of emotions, vibe, and a lot of soul.”
I gave the project a listen last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, but figured I’d wait until Astroworld dropped and the rest of the world could catch on.
