Having already inducted the likes of 2Pac (in 2017), N.W.A. (2016), Public Enemy (2012), The Beastie Boys (2012), Run DMC (2009) and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five (2007), more Black legends are poised to enter the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2019.
Janet Jackson, LL Cool J and Rufus & Chaka Khan are among the list of nominees for the Year of the Pig. LL’s nominations come after he achieved another milestone, as he became the first rapper to receive a Kennedy Center Honor.
2019 also marks the first year of eligibility for several other hip hop musicians: The Roots, Snoop Dogg, OutKast, Usher, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and The Fugees are now able to be nominated and/or inducted into the Hall.
The inductees for the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame will be announced in December.
