Blockhead & Aesop Rock Reunite on “Kiss the Cook” Single

blame it on Shake January 8, 2019

As a huge Aesop Rock fan, it was tough not seeing the wordy wordsmith release a project in 2018. I mean, looking at what came out, it’s like he’s the only one who didn’t. Obviously, that’s not true (*cough* ScHoolboy Q *cough* Rick Ross *cough* Kendrick *cough*), but a new Ace album would’ve been nice.

Thankfully, in less than two weeks, Rock will be supplying a fix for the fiends as he and producer Tobacco will be releasing a project called Malibu Ken on January 18th. And based off the first two singles (“Acid King,” “Corn Maze“), we’re in for a treat.

On top of that, Aesop Rock has also reunited with longtime collaborator Blockhead on “Kiss the Cook,” the first single off the NY producer’s upcoming Free Sweatpants album, which also drops on the 18th.

“It had been a while since Aes and I worked on an original song, but once we started, the pieces just fell into place,” Blockhead told hhdx. “Mixing it was interesting because originally the production had a harsher edge, but I moved to something more melodic and upbeat.”
