Flash back to early 2018, 2 Chainz was already hard at work on his new album just over six months removed from releasing Pretty Girls Love Trap Music. Titled Rap or Go to the League, we at the Dopehouse were excited for a new project from the ATL rapper.

Looking back, the announcement was made far too early–but since then, Chainz would remain rather active. In addition to dropping off his 4-track EP, The Play Don’t Care Who Make It, he also dropped off a number of singles of guest features.

Following a remix of Kash Doll’s “Ice Me Out,” 2 Chainz has now shifts his focus back to his upcoming project, taking to social media to announce the release date for the album. In a promo video featuring LeBron James, who serves as the A&R for the album, he reveals Rap Or Go To The League will arrive next week March 1st.

In the video, he and LeBron discuss how many tracks should appear on the album. Starting with 16 songs, the two tease the idea of releasing the album with 14 of them and adding the other two as bonuses on a Deluxe version down the line. Towards the end of the video, the two also discuss a possible feature and some of the album’s content.

Will we get a new single this week? Or will we see the full tracklist instead? All that remains to be seen. In the meantime, check out the promo video below and stay tuned for more on Rap or Go to the League.
