Statik Selektah Drops Debut Instrumental Project, ‘Mahalo’

What’s fascinating? That for all of his years working with virtually everybody (Action Bronson, 2 Chainz, Mac Miller, Black Thought and Royce 5’9″, among many others), Statik Selektah has never dropped an instrumental project like so many other producers.

Until now. The Showoff/Roc Nation beatsmith has shared his debut instrumental album, Mahalo (The Hawaii Instrumentals). A 13-track album, the project is inspired by a trip to The Aloha State. “All ‘samples’ are Hawaiian… some off records and some off live performances I saw there,” he said. “It’s just an album for the people saying ‘thank you.’ All beats were made at the Lay Low hotel and then Cas laced a few with the keys.”
