Mass Appeals’s Starting 5 Takes on Sway’s ‘5 Fingers of Death’ Challenge

Considering how legendary Nas is on the m-i-c, we knew whoever he decided to sign to Mass Appeal Records would be worthy of a listen. And with the roster’s Starting 5 — consisting of longtime DopeHouse resident Fashawn (an OG on the label now), Brooklyn’s Stro, Georgia’s Cantrell, Cleveland’s Ezri, and Jersey’s 070 Phi — he’s compiled a handful of quality emcees that are ready for the spotlight and aren’t afraid to kick bars at the drop of a hat.

Looking to show and prove, the fearsome five are currently on tour and decided to stop by Shade45 to sit down with the Sway in the Morning crew. And like Sway is known to do when he’s got some hyenas in the building, he put the rappers to the test by having them take part in a mix of their Friday Fire Cypher and 5 Fingers of Death segments.

With beats like Nas’ “Made U Look,” Dr. Dre’s “F*ck Wit Dre Day,” and dead prez “Hip Hop” queued up, all five rappers proceed to take turns doing their thing.

Check out both parts below and be sure to press play on Mass Appeal’s Starting 5 compilation; which featured songs from all parties—including a Statik Selektah-laced banger from Nas, Fashawn and Ezri.
