DiCaprio 2 stood as one of the DopeHouse’s favorite projects from 2018. Of all the tracks on the album, “Off Da Zoinkys” was one of the more deeper cuts, as it tackled the subject of drug use and how it’s affected himself, the people that surround him and the rap game as a whole.
Almost four months removed from his sophomore effort, J.I.D returns with a video. Featuring an appearance from Ansel Elgort, the video is pretty much led by the Baby Driver actor. Getting out of bed to start his day, he dances and shimmies his way to the kitchen to prep a meal for his cat to eat.
“Y’all know I’ma major movie connoisseur so the amazing Scott Lazer and I decided to draw inspiration from The Long Goodbye (1973), directed by Robert Altman. Ansel played Elliott Gould’s character, Philip Marlowe, a private detective,” J.I.D explained on Instagram “I’m excited for u just to see it and hear your perspectives and shit on the parallels between the movie, the video and the song.”
Hit play on the video below and keep an eye peeled to catch the few appearances from J.I.D himself.
