It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Sonya Teclai, but the Eritrean/Egyptian-American singer, rapper, and poet is back in action with her second single of the year.
Trading in the jazzy sounds of “Good Times” (released in January), Ms. Teclai puts on her rap hat and proceeds to get some things off her chest on the DotRod-laced “Finessin.”
“‘Finessin’ is one of those joints you throw on to get ready or hype yourself up with,” Sonya says, “I like to fee good. I like to feel confident. These are days I’ve got to psych myself into that mindset, so I made a song that could do that for me. I hope it gets everyone else in that mindset too.”
