Phantogram Escape the Darkness on “Into Happiness”

The rollercoaster of life continues for Phantogram.

Three years ago, during the recording of their Three album, tragedy struck as Sarah Barthel’s sister (and Josh Carter’s childhood friend) Becky sadly took her own life.

Now, after touching on the unspeakable grief, self-blame and sorrow that ensue after losing a loved one to suicide on a song called “Someday” (which was part of a mental health initiative in part with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention), the NY duo continue to usher in a new chapter with the release of their new single, “Into Happiness.”

“[The song] embodies the personal journey that both of us have taken since we released Three,” they shared in a letter to fans. “It’s been a long path, coming out of the darkness and into the light.”

Take a listen to “Into Happiness” below and be sure to catch Phantogram on tour this summer.
