According to Forbes, Hip-Hop’s race to a billion has come to an end with Jay-Z becoming the first artist in the genre to reach the 10-figure worth.
After years of going back-and-forth with Diddy on the Hip-Hop’s wealthiest list, Hov has reportedly hit the billion mark through his expansive list of endeavors–including liquor (Armand de Brignac, Dussé), Tidal, Roc Nation, various cash investments (Uber), art, his actual music catalog, real estate, and more.
“It’s bigger than hip-hop… it’s the blueprint for our culture,” Swizz Beatz told Forbes about his longtime collaborator. “A guy that looks like us, sounds like us, loves us, made it to something that we always felt that was above us. If he’s a billionaire now, imagine what he’s about to be. Because he’s only just starting.”
