Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire Drops Debut Album, ‘Abeng’

blame it on Wongo June 7, 2019

Stepping aside from his Major Lazer responsibilities for his own solo work, producer Walshy Fire looks to deliver the African and Carribean vibes just in time for summer with his debut album, Abeng.

The album’s title is derived from the traditional Ghanaian instrument that made its way to Jamaica and was later used by runaway slaves as a form of communication. We see a similar blend on his debut album as he mixes Caribbean dancehall, Afrobreats, Soca, Reggae and more.

Abeng spans 11 tracks and calls on Mr Eazi, Kranium, Alkaline, Runtown, Wizkid and more for the project.

Before the true summer heat arrives, hit play on Abeng below.
