Drake Announces OVO Summit, Return Of OVO Fest

blame it on Meka June 19, 2019

With the Toronto RAPCHAS winning the 2019 NBA Finals, we’re now back to a summer of mid-burger sports outside of the Women’s World Cup and, uh, EVO or something.

Seriously, I flipped the channel one day and saw something called “spikeball” on. *stare of 1,000 blanks*

In any case, despite the championship parade being marred by gun violence, Drake — global ambassador for the RAPCHAS and living mascot — would announce that his OVO Fest would make a return during Canada’s Caribana Weekend.

Drake and his entire OVO Sound stable also announced that they would team with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) for the first-ever OVO Summit, which will coincide with Caribana/OVO Fest. “These events are at the core of what OVO represents: chasing new ideas and sharing information to help us on our paths to success,” Oliver El Khatib said to Forbes. “The summit is a curated educational experience for all the like-minded young Canadians who are passionate about careers in music, sports and entertainment. These kinds of activations are our duty and, I feel, essential investments into the future of our city.”

“Drake is synonymous with the OVO brand, but the body of work created under the owl logo over the past decade represents Drake, myself and Noah’s [producer 40] collaborative efforts,” El Khatib says. “I think it’s brilliant for RBC to find the gap and acknowledge that there are just as many young people aspiring to be entrepreneurs as there are wanting to be artists.”

More details should arrive sooner than later.
