Watch ‘The Listening: The Story Behind Little Brother’s Debut Album’ Documentary

Back in 2003, three North Carolina Central University students connected to release one of hi hop’s most beloved independent-slash-underground albums. Now, the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources has put together this rather awesome documentary on that project.

Dubbed “The Listening: The Story Behind Little Brother‘s Debut Album,” the documentary is compiled “through the use of extensive interviews with the group and never before seen archival footage” and chronicles the making of the first album from Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh and 9th Wonder.

Directed by Holland Randolph Gallagher, the first (of two!) short films can be seen below.
