Little Brother Return With Fifth Album, ‘May The Lord Watch’

blame it on Meka August 20, 2019

It’s been nearly a decade since their last album (2010’s Leftback), but Little Brother are officially back in action.

Following a surprise reunion at the 2018 Art of Cool Festival, fans have been clamoring for the official follow-up to Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh‘s fourth album. Finally, that time has arrived as the pair have surprised fans with May The Lord Watch.

“It took us a long time to get it right but we did,” Pooh says. “I love the fact we accomplished the goal but it’s the journey that I’ll always cherish the most. We wrote and recorded every song on this album together. We carried each other. We give y’all the album of our careers.”

A 15-track drop, the likes of Khrysis, Focus,Nottz, Black Milk, Abjo, Devin Morrison, Blaaq Gold, and King Michael Coy are among some of the contributors. But yes, unfortunately, 9th Wonder is not involved in this one.

“I’m excited to announce that my brother Big Pooh and I are back at work,” Phonte said. “New Little Brother music and a tour are coming soon. After conversations with 9th Wonder following our Art of Cool reunion show in Durham last year, the three of us mutually agreed it was best for LB to continue as a duo, as Pooh and I have officially been LB since 2007.”

Still, after four straight listens, Tay and Pooh are more than enough–both wasting zero bars over the album’s stellar production. Throw in some nostalgic UBN skits (RIP Percy Miracles) and we’ve got an album well worth the nine year wait. Check out the production credits and press play below.
