Joell Ortiz Drops ‘Monday’ Album

Mr. Yaowa is back to work.

After dropping That’s Hip Hop in 2016, Joell Ortiz went on a short hiatus before returning with his Apollo Brown-laced masterpiece, Mona Lisa. And now, after teaming up with Salaam Remi on a quick strike EP, he’s back once again with the release of his brand new album, Monday.

“I’m back to work,” Joell says. “Monday is the start of the week. The grind! Working people normally dread Mondays. Not me though; I embrace them! Feels like another opportunity. Another chance. The beginning of what’s ahead. On Monday I talk about life. Old me, new me, and the guy that next Monday may introduce to you all.”

After kicking things off with the Big K.R.I.T.-assisted “Learn Ya” and The Heatmakerz-laced “Captain,” the Brooklyn emcee took it back to the days “Before Hip Hop” with the album’s third single. And now, he’s back with nine more songs over quality production from Nottz, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Hesami, and the previously-mentioned Apollo Brown and Heatmakerz.

Press play and be sure to add Monday on your preferred streaming service.
