The Seshen – “Dive”

blame it on Shake November 11, 2019

Since releasing Flames & Figures back in 2016, The Seshen have stayed busy with countless live shows (which you should definitely check out if they’re in a city near you) and a drive to improve their overall lives.

Showing no signs of slowing down, the San Francisco-based collective will now release their third full-length album, CYAN, on February 28, 2020.

“Since ‘Flames and Figures,’ a lot has been taking place both internally and externally,” lyricist and vocalist Lalin St. Juste recollects. “We were on tour for the last album during the 2016 U.S. election. There was an intense heaviness, a familiar one, one that extends generations and it just sunk in even further.”

“I was at the edge of myself,” she continued. “This album is about pulling back the layers of who I am in order to push through sadness and grab onto what’s underneath.”

Led by exposed yet bold musical endeavors from bassist/producer Akiyoshi Ehara, the album sees The Seshen delve into uncharted eclectic realms; “I think that there’s a lot more rawness on this record,” Aki shares.

To help kick off the campaign, The Seshen have released the first single, “Dive,” with a video (directed by award-winning filmmaker Dominic Mercurio) that depicts a revoking with the worst version of yourself–it’s a cautionary tale of diving deep into depression, blinding yourself to the beautiful world around you until you disassociate with you you really are.
