Even though they nominated Lailas Wisdom in 2017, the GRAMMYs failed to acknowledge Rapsody‘s latest album, EVE, when they revealed this year’s nominations–despite it arguably being the superior project of the two.
Taking to Instagram, the gifted rapper expressed her disappointment, but wasn’t about to let her absence on a list be detrimental to her well-being.
“I rarely, if ever, show my cards or that I’m human when it comes to my music career,” Rap said. “Feel like opening up some today, tho. Today… disappointed. Yes. Frustrated… beyond. But, you have to tell yourself the good fight is never an easy one. And the people that are the faces of the purpose behind your art are what makes creating not empty: with awards, nominations, or none at all…. Art is too important not to share.”
Without the need of validation from an award ceremony or publication, Rapsody brushed her shoulders off and proceeded to prove once again why she’s one of the nicest with the pen (regardless of gender) with a fresh set of bars for Funk Flex’s ongoing freestyle series.
