I mean, I get it: why wouldn’t Tyga keep dipping into the same well that’s breathed new life into his career? After escaping from Kardashian Island, the rapper returned to his ratchet, post-“Rack City” ways and notched a string of hits. Now, apparently, he done tapped into the Danny Trejo school of music, as most of his singles and features throughout 2019 have a distinctly Latino-influenced sound.
It’s… a thing, definitely. Not entirely sure if that’s a good thing, however.
If you thought otherwise, his latest “Ayy Macarena” should all but convince you. The song samples Los del Río’s 1995 hit, and the pair even pop up in the video! Meanwhile, the video is a play on Jim Carrey’s The Mask, and even a Saturday Night Sexy alum (Mónica Alvarez, May 2014) is the leading lady. But… yeah, this actually happened.
