The Neptunes Reveal Studio Sessions with Jay-Z, Snoh Aalegra, Lil Uzi Vert & More

Most people know me know that my favorite producer is DJ Premier (which made things more surreal when I got to spearhead the rollout for Gang Starr’s One of the Best Yet album). Those people also know that the people directly under Preemo on that list is the combination of Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, aka The Neptunes.

While they’ve been relatively quiet in recent times (the duo, not Pharrell as a solo act, save for their 2017 album No One Ever Really Dies), it seems like The Neptunes are poised to make a grand return in the new decade. Speaking to Clash Magazine, Chad revealed that the pair has been working with a myriad of artists lately…

Noting that he and Pharrell have been “locked in the studio for the past 12 months,” Hugo revealed some of the projects the duo have been working on. “[Lil Nas X] was here in the studio the other day, we’re working on something for him… There’s a video game soundtrack that’s in the works right now that I can’t speak about, I’m not supposed to, but uh, it’s in the works right now. We just did some work with Miley Cyrus, Jay-Z, Blink 182, Lil Uzi Vert, Brandy, Ray J, Snoh Aalegra, G-Eazy…”

Hopefully, we get some of these works sooner than later.

It also goes without mentioning, The Neptunes started their 2020 on a high note, with a Oscar nomination for the song “Letter To My Godfather,” and a nomination for the 2020 Rock & Roll Songwriters Hall of Fame.
