Another young artist gone way too soon.

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was shot and killed this morning (February 19) in his Los Angeles home.

According to TMZ, four masked gunmen entered Smoke’s home early Wednesday morning. In what appears to have been originally a home invasion robbery, multiple gunshots were later fired with an unknown amount striking and killing the up-and-coming rapper.

It is also reported that the gunmen fled on foot after the shooting. Smoke was rushed to a medical center in West Hollywood where he was later pronounced dead.

Smoke’s death comes less than a year after the Brooklyn-born rapper rose to stardom thanks to his “Welcome to the Party” hit. The track would eventually be remixed by Nicki Minaj and French Montana. Smoke had also just released the deluxe edition of Meet the Woo 2 last week.

Pop Smoke was only 20 years old.
