2DopeRadio, Vol. 2, ep.6

blame it on Meka March 24, 2020

I know, I know. It’s been a while.

Like many of you all, I’ve been partaking in the phenomenon that is social distancing, which means I’ve been doing virtually everything from my home or neighborhood: working, working out, eating, sleeping, and generally trying to stay out of the direction of this global pandemic.

(It also doesn’t help that I live in a state that has the highest concentration of COVID-19 cases in the country, which in turn has made me all but paranoid of leaving the house.)

The good thing (if one can even say that) about this is not only have I seen my sleep hours increase, but I’ve had more time to practice on one of my true joys: deejaying. This is how this episode of 2DopeRadio came about.

This set initially began as a practice session-slash-something I planned to use while exercising around my neighborhood, and wasn’t planned at all (compared to this one mix I’ve been planning for and preparing, for several weeks); it was more or less an collection of tracks from musicians I’ve been listening to since the pandemic forced everyone indoors. Next thing I know… this was the end result.

This episode was done in one long take, with very minimal edits (excluding the tags, intro and outro that I added once I had completed the mix), with tracks from a wide array of artists (however, I’ve clearly been revisiting Jay-Z‘s catalog a lot since A Written Testimony). Hopefully this can provide you, the aspiring listener, with a soundtrack for your day.
