Mélat – “Happy Hour”

blame it on Meka April 28, 2020

It’s been a while since The DopeHouse has heard from Mélat, but the talented Texas-based songstress returns with a new song in “Happy Hour.”

“I, just like nearly everyone on this planet, found myself home for the past month with a stillness that I had not ever felt before,” she says. “And to be honest, I feel blessed to be healthy and to have all of people that I know and love healthy as well.

“So as I sat at home, I had this thought of happy hour – I miss it, yet it seems like we were doing it online as often as possible to keep ourselves sane,” Mélat continues. “But I found something deeper in those conversations – a connection of love even when we’re apart. And it’s more timeless than being a song about quarantine. Sometimes that love is transcendent, existing on a plane not tied to this earth. It’s the glow from the sun, or a simple breeze that communicates that from our soulmates who have passed. Friends, lovers, family, or even ourselves – that bond is more than time, space, or words. I hope you find a little joy in this song and a little solace as we all try to navigate the insanity of our current times.”
