A great thing about these VERZUZ battles is that they’re exposing a younger demographic to the music of their predecessors. And, in return, some of those artists get to reintroduce themselves and their influence.
One of the earlier events featured the works of both Teddy Riley and Babyface. Now, after Lloyd collaborated with Teddy on “Slow Wine / Bass Line,” Lucky Daye teams with Babyface on “Shoulda.” And yes, like Lloyd and Teddy, Lucky and Kenny Edmonds’ collaboration is a whole slapper (and even interpolates the classic Babyface/Toni Braxton duet, “Love Shoulda Brought You Home“).
