For the first time in a few years, both of the City Girls–Yung Miami and JT–have dropped a new project called City On Lock.
A little backstory: in 2018 member Jatavia Shakara — née, JT — was sent to prison for credit card fraud charges, right when the group began to ascend. While the term was originally slated to end in March 2020, JT would instead be released in October 2019 (lucky for her, considering the pandemic that would hit the planet a few months later). She would also release her first post-prison track, “JT First Day Out.” However, right when JT would be released Yung Miami would give birth to her daughter almost immediately after. While the duo released “You Tried It” in late 2019, plans to hit the road have been put on pause for obvious reasons.
Now, the City Girls have released their official follow-up to 2018’s Girl Code. A 15-track release, the likes of Yo Gotti, Lil Baby, Lil Durk and Doja Cat guest throughout. JT and Miami have also released a video for “Jobs.”
