Kemba Drops ‘The World Is Watching’ EP

Ever since we first heard Kemba, we knew the Bronx spitter was special. Not only does he rap well, he’s also one to never waste words and makes sure to always say something that actually matters in his rhymes.

With last year’s Gilda project still in rotation, Kemba has resurfaced in the midst of this social uprising with a potent new EP, The World is Watching.

Clocking in at 8 minutes and 46 seconds in honor of George Floyd, the four-track project is led by “6 Million Ways,” which offers a timeline of police killings–from the sadness of it happening, to the protests, to the officers usually getting no consequence at all. It’s a cycle… that needs to break.

“There’s no time to waste. I have to be as honest, poignant, and my main goal is always to say complex thoughts in the simplest way possible,” Kemba told Audiomack. “That’s always what I’m going for in everything I do. I feel that urgency to do that. I put in a lot of work—I’ve had a lot of experiences in activism. I’ve sat in a lot of meetings, traveled to a lot of different cities, understanding the plight of my people everywhere in this country. I gotta boil everything I’ve learned down into simple, catchy stuff anybody could easily understand.”
